Motor City Bowl: Central Michigan Seeking Revenge

This Wednesday the back to back MAC Conference Champions Central Michigan Chippewas (8-5) will face off against the Purdue Boilermakers (7-5) for the second time this season. In the first game it was the Boilermakers who came out the victors but this game is what really matters. It is the Motor City Bowl live from Detroit Michigan.

The first game between these two teams was back in September this year. At one point in that game, the Purdue Boilermakers were up 38-0 over the Central Michigan football team . The final score in that game was 45-22. Purdue was able to shut down the very dangerous quarterback Dan Lefevour, who become the second quarterback in NCAA history to throw for 3000 yards and rush for 1000 yards. Lefevour was held to just 26 yards on 10 carries. Purdue Running Back Kory Sheets had his best game of the season against the first meeting against the
Central Michigan Chippewas
. Sheets rushed for a season high, 144 yards on 21 carries and also scored 2 touchdowns for the Boilermakers .

Keys to the Game

  • Dan Lefevour is the teams leading rusher. He was held to only 26 yards in the first game between the Boilermakers and the Chippewas. Justin Hoskins and Ontario Sneed are definitely going to need to step it up this game as well if the Chippewas want to win. In the first meeting, the duo ran for just 59 yards on 19 carries. I think it will be extremely hard for Central Michigan to win the Motor City Bowl if they do not have a good day running the ball.

  • The Chippewas must stop the run. Senior Chippewas linebacker Red Keith is one of the best linebackers in the MAC. He is going to need to shut down the duo of Kory Sheets and Jaycen Taylor if Central Michigan wants to win this ballgame. Sheets and Taylor combined for 172 yards in the first meeting averaging over seven yards per carry. That can not happen again.

  • Purdue quarterback Curtis Painter had a great game against Central Michigan earlier in the season throwing for 360 yards. The Chippewas defense needs to defend the pass better in this game to be successful.

Central Michigan does not want to lose this game. They are going to come out and play hard. The Chippewas are looking to get revenge against the
Boilermakers
. Will it be enough? Probably not. A Central Michigan victory will rest in the hands of sophomore Dan Lefevour and the entire Chippewas defense.
